Beartooth Plateau Fishing Trip

Sculpted by glacial activity, the Beartooth Mountain Range is one of
the most scenic areas in the Rockies. It features small glaciers, high
alpine meadows, glacial tills, timbered canyons and hundreds of lakes
and streams teeming with trout.
Camp is a scenic five-mile ride by horse from the trailhead. Nestled
near a lake full of trout at the edge of a large meadow, is your home
for the next few days. This is one of our most popular trips, and people
book it year after year. We take side trips each day to different
lakes and streams to fish, sightsee and horseback ride. The plateau and
high alpine meadows are draped in wildflowers. There are elk in the
meadow in front of the camp in the mornings and evenings. On the day
rides we see elk, moose, deer, Rocky Mountain goat, marmots, eagles and
picas. There are a lot of old trapper cabins to take pictures of. An
old stockade built by trappers and miners in the 1800's is still
partially standing. Some historians think it was built for defense when
Chief Joseph and his Nez Perce came through the area in the 1870's.
The area's lakes are full of brook, cutthroat and golden trout. Both
flies and spinners work well to attract these fish. Even small
children have no trouble catching trout on this trip. You’ll want to
take the day trip to the infamous Deep Lake where we catch large brook
and cutthroat trout. This trip normally runs five to seven days in
length.
