This is our most popular hunt! In early November there is too much snow in the high country so we move down for our deer and antelope hunts. We base out of a motel in town. We eat breakfast early in the morning at the motel and then head for the area we are going to hunt. We are out hunting by daylight. The hunting is done horseback along with some walking. We are hunting the mountains along the base of the mountains and the large creek drainages and canyons running back in the mountains. This is the winter range for deer. The deer we are hunting are the heavy horned mountain bucks. Anyone who puts out an effort and turns down the smaller bucks will go home with a buck from 24 inches wide into the low 30's class. Most of them have at least 4 points on each side.
