Thorofare River Trip

Early July trips are available into the famous Thorofare country
between Cody and Yellowstone Park. This is considered the most remote
spot in the lower 48 states. We pack in using trails up Ishawooa or Deer
Creek on the Shoshone National Forest. Then we go over mountain passes
at 10,000 feet elevation and enter the Bridger Teton National Forest
and the Thorofare River basin. Once in this area, we go down to the
river and camp. On some trips, we lay over for one night on the way in.
As we travel through the mountain valleys, you will see the most
beautiful scenery in the world. Millions of wildflowers grow so thick
you can smell them as you ride through. Wild animals are visible at
almost every turn in the trail.
Fishing here is the best you can find anywhere. The famous
Yellowstone Cutthroat are in these waters. They run 18 to 22 inches in
length and are great fighters. It is a fly fisherman’s heaven. For
those of you who don’t fly fish, spinners also work well. It is not
unusual for a fisherman to catch and release over 50 fish a day. This
is a seven or eight day trip. Prepare yourself for the best fishing you
have ever experienced.
